Friends of Riverside Park details concerns over plan to allow limited commercialization
KAMLOOPS — The community group that was instrumental in defeating a proposed parkade near Riverside Park ten years ago has reactivated in response to another City of Kamloops proposal regarding the park.
At Tuesday’s (May 18) regular meeting, Kamloops council will debate a proposed pilot project that would see commercial recreation businesses given the chance to occupy space in the park. Examples includes food trucks and kayak rentals.
If passed, the initiative would be piloted this summer with the opportunity to be extended further if deemed successful.
Friends of Riverside Park has sent a letter to council expressing concern with the proposal.
