KAMLOOPS — An infusion of federal funding will help Kamloops Airport (YKA) make some much-needed upgrades a reality.

In a news release, YKA says it has been told it will receive $1.4 million from the federal government’s Airports Capital Assistance Program (ACAP).

The money will pay for 50 per cent of the rehabilitation of two airport taxiways. That project is slated to begin in late July and take about eight weeks to complete. It is not expected to disrupt flight traffic.

The federal funding will also help the airport replace some aging snow-clearing equipment.
