RCMP arrest three after backyards, vehicles cased in downtown Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP arrested three people who were allegedly going through vehicles and backyards near Battle Street and Columbia Street late Saturday (May 8) morning.
One man was later released with a court date – pending charge recommendation and approval – while another was held on warrants for a separate file. A third was charged in relation to incident and was remanded in custody.
Tristan Fernandez, 24, of Kamloops is charged with:
- one count of mischief by wilfully breaking a vehicle window and smashing the ignition lock
- failing to comply with probation order by possessing a knife
- occupying the driver’s seat of a motor vehicle without being the owner of that vehicle or having the registered owner in the vehicle
- without lawful excuse, possessing an instrument suitable for the purpose of breaking into a motor vehicle
