KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Search and Rescue (KSAR) and Search, Rescue and Detection K9s of British Columbia (SRD K9s) are close to entering their new home in the city.

Wings Above Kamloops and the Cooper Family Foundation are finishing their community enhancement project that will place KSAR and SRD K9s in their home – the Cooper Centre – at Eighth Street and York Avenue.

“In the past, [KSAR] was completely reliant on the generosity of the city and corporate sponsors that graciously allowed us to use their facilities for meetings and training purposes,” KSAR President Dwaine Brooke said. “This new hall will allow us to move our training up to the next level.”

For over 40 years, KSAR has provided professional search, rescue, and recovery services, while promoting outdoor safety to reduce the number of search and rescue incidents. With search dogs being an important part in the search and rescue operation, SRD K9s will conduct professional and civilian working dog training in the Cooper Centre that hosts KSAR.
