Two Brocklehurst schools placed on hold and secure while RCMP investigate threats

KAMLOOPS — School District 73 says Brocklehurst Middle School and Kay Bingham Elementary have both been placed on a hold and secure this afternoon (May 11).
Kamloops RCMP media relations officer Cst. Crystal Evelyn says the detachment was contacted School District 73 after someone called Brock Middle School and made a threat.
“There is a police presence near the schools and the public is asked to please avoid the general area while the investigation continues,” Evelyn notes the school websites will have updates on the situation, “So for parents who are watching and wondering what is going on, those websites are a good place to keep an eye on and stay up to date.”
The district says the order was put in place out of an abundance of caution while Kamloops RCMP investigate the threats.
