B.C. records 515 new COVID-19 cases and two more virus deaths

VICTORIA — B.C. is reporting 515 new COVID-19 cases today (May 11), with two additional virus-related fatalities.

In a release, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry reports 6,020 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

There are now 426 people in hospital with COVID-19, 141 of whom are in intensive care.

According to the latest BC Centre for Disease Control data, there were 65 new cases in the past 24 hours within Interior Health.

That increases B.C.’s overall total to 136,623 cases since the pandemic began, distributed as follows:

  • 33,371 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 116)
  • 79,424 — Fraser Health (up by 300)
  • 4,874 — Island Health (up by 20)
  • 11,483 — Interior Health (up by 65)
  • 7,367 — Northern Health (up by 12)
  • 195 — Reside outside of Canada (up by 2)

To date, 128,149 people who tested positive, have recovered.

Dr. Henry says 2,219,856 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C., 110,516 of which are second doses.
