Quiet Weekend for Wildfires

May 10, 2021 | 5:25 AM

KAMLOOPS — A quiet weekend on the wildfire front.

15 active fires in the province, with only one new fire. Eight fires are currently active in the Kamloops Fire Centre. There are no wildfires of note in the province as of midnight.

The only larger fire in our area is the Petit Creek fire west of Merritt, which has been under control and held at 100 hectares for several days now.

Temperatures are expected to be moderate this week, with a few showers, which officials hope will keep any danger down, especially with drier conditions in the woods with a lack of precipitation this spring.
