KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Fire Rescue crews extinguished a small fire that spread to a few trees and shrubs in Juniper Ridge Friday (May 8) evening.
While the damage wasn’t significant, and it wasn’t the first fire to spread to trees in the Kamloops area, Platoon Captain Wade Lindoff reminded the public of the dangers of fires spreading to trees.
“Once you get into the larger fields it can definitely spread, especially if we get some winds,” Lindoff said. “It does tie up more resources as the fire grows. Please be careful out there. The danger of fire increases as conditions dry into the summer season.”
According to Environment Canada, April was cooler and drier than normal in 2021.
