KAMLOOPS — A very close call for a resident of Malakwa Tuesday. The man and his two dogs had a run-in with a grizzly bear Tuesday afternoon.
The man was walking his dogs on his property in Malakwa, northeast of Sicamous. According to the victim, one of the dogs ran into the bush. The grizzly came out of the bush and bit the man. The man was taken to hospital for treatment, then released. The dogs only received minor scratches.
The Conservation Services Predator Attack Team investigated, but decided to leave the bear alone, because the attack was a defensive gesture by the bear.
