KAMLOOPS — Set against the backdrop of recognizable locations, the movie Just Clicked will be among the first completely shot in Kamloops.

“We love Kamloops, we love how beautiful it is, how the crew and the cast are here,” said line producer Cjay Boisclair. “We’ve used quite a bit of local cast and crew, which is amazing.”

Boisclair is a Kamloops actor and filmmaker, currently working under parent company Champlain Media.

She isn’t divulging much about the plot of Just Clicked, except that it’s a romantic comedy.

Elise Gatien plays the lead, one of several actors from the Kamloops area.

“She actually was born and raised here, she’s our lead star, Elise,” Boisclair said. “She’s amazing and doing a great job. My son’s actually on the show, his name’s Kayden Boisclair. He’s been here since he was born and this is now his second film with the same company.”

Kamloops residents have likely spotted the cast and crew throughout town. Scenes have been shot at Hello Toast, Brownstone Restaurant and at Riverside Park.

Assistant location manager Dean Nelson says local businesses and residents have been very accommodating.

“The City of Kamloops has done an exceptional job at welcoming us and being really flexible with our last-minute request, same with BC Lotteries for opening up their parking lot so we could park our circus there, which was amazing,” Nelson said. “The Downtown Business Association, they’ve been really active in reaching out to us and teaching us about the CAP program, just keeping the streets safe for everybody.”

The movie is likely to be released in the fall or winter, but where remains a mystery.

“We don’t have a network yet that it’s on, so I would say stay tuned,” Boisclair said. “I know I put things on my social media all the time about when shows have been released and where they can be watched if I know, same thing with Askem Talent who’s had some of the stars on the show and Kammywood Casting, who’s done the background casting for it.”

With an eager and welcoming community, Kamloops may be setting itself up well for future projects.

“It’s just a really great community to be in and it’s so nice to finally see film succeeding and thriving here,” Boisclair said. “I can’t wait to see it all on television myself.”
