B.C. finds another 740 cases of COVID-19; 92 in Interior Health

VICTORIA — B.C. has found another 740 cases of COVID-19, including 92 within Interior Health.

The totals are included in a prepared statement from Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry.

The province has an overall total of 129,482 cases of COVID-19, spread though B.C. as follows:

  • 31,864 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 163)
  • 74,628 — Fraser Health (up by 431)
  • 4,665 — Island Health (up by 32)
  • 10,969 — Interior Health (up by 92)
  • 7,163 — Northern Health (up by 22)
  • 193 — Reside outside of Canada (unchanged)

Henry reports 7,886 active cases of COVID-19 Friday (Apr. 30), a decrease of 110 from Thursday. There were 511 people in hospital including 174 in intensive care.

Within Interior Health, there are 644 active cases, an increase of 23 from Thursday. There were 35 patients in hospital and 19 in intensive care.

Four people have died of the virus, increasing the provincial death toll to 1,581. The Interior Health death toll remains at 131.

A total of 11,727 people are under active public health monitoring due to direct COVID-19 contact.

A further 119,785 people have been declared fully recovered from the virus, or 93 per cent of all recorded cases.

Henry notes the province has administered 1,786,722 doses of COVID-19 vaccine to date.
