Utility pole fire leads to power outage along East Trans Canada in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — UPDATE: B.C. Hydro says power has been restored.

EARLIER: A fire on a utility pole and electric transformer has resulted in a large power outage in east Kamloops.

According to B.C. Hydro, the outage was called in at about 7:52 a.m. Thursday (Apr. 29).

It affects a strip of hydro customers along the East Trans Canada Highway. The fire was on a pole near MolyCop Canada in Dallas.

Capt. Wade Lindoff of Kamloops Fire Rescue says crews have extinguished the fire and B.C. Hydro is on scene to deal with the electrical issues.
