Merritt enters infrastructure funding agreement with Trans Mountain
MERRITT, B.C. — Following a unanimous vote by City Council, Merritt has entered into a funding agreement with Trans Mountain to construct a bulk water and sanitary dump location.
“The City has worked with Trans Mountain to create a funding agreement that would see Trans Mountain cover the infrastructure costs of the bulk water station and sanitary dump station projects. Under the agreement, Trans Mountain would agree to cover project costs up to a maximum of $958,618.67,” said CAO Sean Smith.
The project is expected to come under that dollar figure.
“This infrastructure will then be used to sell services to Trans Mountain and other contractors, thereby providing an additional revenue stream for the City that will assist in funding further infrastructure development and replacement,” added Smith.
