LOGAN LAKE, B.C. — RCMP have confirmed a commercial truck driver died in a crash on the Coquihalla Highway between Kamloops and Merritt Monday afternoon (Apr. 26).

The crash took place between two commercial trucks, both travelling in the northbound lane near Surrey-Sussex Lake Road.

In a news release, Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey of RCMP Southeast District says one of the trucks rear-ended the other.

“The driver and sole occupant of the rear transport truck, a 64-year-old Aldergrove man, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by emergency medical officials at the scene,” said O’Donaghey.

The driver of the other truck was relatively uninjured. He is a man in his 40s.

O’Donaghey says investigators are still working to establish a possible cause of the crash. The sky was relatively clear at the time and visibility was good. Road conditions were bare and dry.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or may have dashcam footage of the area at the time is asked to contact Logan Lake RCMP at (250) 523-6222.
