B.C. COVID-19 case count dips to 799; hospitalizations and ICU admissions remain near record highs

VICTORIA — The province is reporting 799 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C, including 96 within Interior Health.

The totals are included in an update to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control website.

In total, B.C. has seen 127,048 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began, spread out as follows:

  • 31,349 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 121)
  • 73,082 — Fraser Health (up by 534)
  • 4,568 — Island Health (up by 28)
  • 10,760 — Interior Health (up by 96)
  • 7,096 — Northern Health (up by 16)
  • 193 — Reside outside of Canada (up by 4)

There are 8,089 active cases of the virus in B.C., a decrease of 110 from Monday. Hospitalizations are back up to 500, with 164 people in critical care.

Within Interior Health, there are 667 active cases of COVID-19, an increase of 53. There are 40 people in hospital regionally, including 18 in critical care.

No new deaths were recorded in B.C. Tuesday, leaving the provincial death toll at 1,571 and the regional death toll at 129.

A total of 117,150 people are considered fully recovered from COVID-19, or 92 per cent of all recorded cases.

The province says 1,671,128 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to date.
