Two Kamloops Mounties injured while arresting stolen vehicle suspect

KAMLOOPS — RCMP say a suspicious vehicle report on the Kamloops North Shore Thursday morning (Apr. 22) resulted in two officers injured in an arrest.

Cst. Crystal Evelyn says Mounties were called to the 300-block of Pluto Drive in the Riverdale Trailer Court at about 9:50 a.m. for a vehicle parked in someone else’s driveway.

Officers ran the plates and determined they did not match the SUV on which they were affixed. Later investigation determined the SUV was stolen.

The Mounties then found a man sleeping in the front seat.

While arresting the suspect, he allegedly resisted, leading to a foot pursuit and a struggle. Two officers were injured in the process, with one taken to hospital by B.C. Ambulance Service. Evelyn notes both officers are expected to recover.

A 33-year-old man is in custody in relation to this incident and a series of unendorsed warrants.
