Kamloops RCMP scoop Insp. Jeff Pelley from Williams Lake as new Operations Officer
KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops RCMP detachment has a new second-in-command – and he’s a familiar face.
Insp. Jeff Pelley joined the detachment as Operations Officer this week from Williams Lake, where he most recently serviced as that city’s officer-in-charge.
Pelley is from the Ashcroft-Cache Creek area, and attended post-secondary studies in Kamloops before joining the national force in 1999. His nearly 22-year policing career includes a posting in Kamloops from 2003 to 2006, when he worked as a constable in the General Duty and Serious Crime sections.
In a news release, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cst. Crystal Evelyn notes Pelley took over the Williams Lake detachment in 2016, when the Cariboo city was ranked third in Statistics Canada’s Crime Severity Index. The last ranking brought the city down to seventh. Evelyn says under his watch, the Williams Lake detachment “engaged in enforcement strategies and projects on violent criminals, indigenous gangs, drug traffickers and prolific offenders, as well as public trust initiatives.”
