Weekend for Kamloops RCMP includes successful and failed break-in attempts, woman in distress taken to hospital

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP responded to approximately 374 calls for service from midnight on Friday, April 16, to 9:00 a.m. on Monday April 19, 2021. Below are some highlights from those calls.

Two weekend break and enters

Stereo equipment was stolen from a business on the 700-block of Fortune Avenue early Friday morning.

Surveillance footage showed two men in black, with one of them in a trench coat, before they departed westbound on Simcoe Avenue.

Earlier that day at around 8:00 a.m., another theft was reported at a construction site on Holway Street, which police believe may be related.

Failed break-in at shopping mall

A break-in attempt was caught on camera at a business on the 800-block of Tranquille Road early Saturday morning.

At around 5:17 a.m., a man dressed in a black jacket and grey pants, riding a purple bicycle, was shown cutting a padlock and trying to enter the building.

He was unsuccessful.

Woman in distress taken to hospital

Kamloops RCMP responded to a request to check the well-being of a woman at a residence on Holt Street.

Police said she had not been heard from recently, causing concern.

After failed attempts to make contact, police said they breached the door and located her in medical distress.

She was transported to hospital by ambulance.
