Driver clocked at 243 km/h south of Merritt, car impounded

MERRITT — B.C. RCMP Traffic Services reminded drivers they have little tolerance for excessive speeders.
A driver in a 2016 Corvette was caught traveling 243 km/h – more than twice the speed limit – on Highway 5 about 35 kilometres south of Merritt on Saturday (April 17).
The driver had their vehicle impounded and must appear in court.
On average, 115 people die every year in B.C. crashes involving high-risk driving.
