Dick Hart Memorial Park fire being held, fire north of 100 Mile House grows

KAMLOOPS — Wildfire activity continues in the Kamloops and Cariboo regions.

The fire discovered Saturday (April 17) at Dick Hart Memorial Park is being held at 4.5 hectares. The fire near Spahomin Creek discovered April 15 is also being held at 500 hectares. The Kamloops region has 10 active wildfires as of publication, although eight are under control.

In the Cariboo, a fire discovered Saturday near Canim Lake Near Resort Road north of 100 Mile House has grown to 5.03 hectares. The three other actives fires in the Cariboo are under control, according to B.C. Wildfire Service.

With temperatures heating up in the Interior, and no rainfall forecast in the near future, firefighters are urging residents to be extremely cautious.
