MERRITT — A project to rebuild an historic church in Merritt is moving along well and, depending on COVID restrictions, is hoping to have the reopening celebrations in June.
The Murray Church, once one of the oldest buildings in the Nicola Valley, was destroyed in what is believed to have been an arson fire in January 2019.
The fundraising goal was reached earlier this year.Spokesman Richie Gage says siding is going on now, and interior finishing is in process. He says community response has been tremendous and having the church restored has been a blessing to the community.
