Fire crews deal with deliberately set fires
KAMLOOPS — Fire crews are dealing with the aftermath of a series of fires in the past few hours. The fires were located on the Tk’emlups reserve and look like they might have been set deliberately.
Just after 3:00 AM, KFR Platoon Captain Darryl Cooper says they were called to two small fires on Chilcotin Way. While they were there, a larger fire broke out in a big slash pile on Kootenay Way. Flames were visible from many parts of the City.
Captain Cooper said crews made a decision to let the fire burn down a bit so they could better deal with it, but heavy equipment and water tenders were on scene in case it flared up. As it burns down, crews will be able to get at the fire and put it out.
