100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — Two officers suffered minor injuries after a confrontation with an alleged prohibited driver.

100 Mile House RCMP said a 44-year-old man from Bridge Lake was arrested near Moore Avenue within the Exeter Industrial Park. Afterward, police said the man pushed one of the officers to the ground and attempted to continue assaulting the arresting officers.

Backup officers arrived as the two arresting officers held the man, who was eventually safely arrested.

Police said drugs and a large knife were found on the vehicle’s dashboard after the arrest. The same man had been involved in a traffic stop last week where a fully loaded carbine had been found in the vehicle he was driving.

The man was taken to hospital with minor injuries and was taken to custody shortly after he was cleared. An adult woman, who was the passenger, didn’t get involved in the brief fight and remained in the car. She was detained at the outset but later released with no charges.

The man will be released by way of an Undertaking by Police on several charges, including assaulting a peace officer.

Anyone with information on the file can contact 100 Mile House RCMP at 250-395-2456 to speak with an officer, or B.C. Crime Stoppers, if they wish to remain anonymous.

The vehicle was impounded and the investigation is ongoing.
