OTTAWA — The economy added 303,000 jobs in March, bringing the jobless rate down from 8.2 percent in February to 7.5 percent in March. That’s a pandemic-era low.
The increase puts employment 296,000 shy of pre-COVID levels. Statistics Canada reports there were about 95,000 more retail jobs- fully recouping losses sustained in January lockdowns.
The B.C. unemployment rate was unchanged at 6.9 percent.
