The Western Hockey League announced on Friday positive COVID-19 cases in Kelowna, Vancouver and Calgary. The Medicine Hat Tigers have been deemed a close contact to the Hitmen and have suspended activities.

Positive COVID cases identified in Kelowna, Vancouver and Calgary WHL cohorts

KAMLOOPS — There have been more positive COVID-19 discovered across the Western Hockey League.

The league announced on Friday positive tests coming out of the Kelowna Rockets and Vancouver Giants cohorts.

According to a release, the Giants player had been ongoing a mandate quarantine when the positive result happened, meaning there was no contact with anyone on the team.

The Rockets player, meantime, contracted the virus as a result of the seven other COVID cases in Kelowna’s cohort. He is in isolation.

There was also a positive COVID-19 cases reveiled in the Calgary Hitmen cohort, and the WHL has suspended all their team activities.

The Medicine Hat Tigers are also stopping their activities as well. There has been no positive case in that cohort, but as a result of the positive Calgary case, the Tigers have been deemed close contacts. They played the Hitmen on Monday. The league has postponed the next three games for both teams, which were supposed to run from Friday night until Monday.
