KAMLOOPS – Kamloops Fire Rescue crews responded to a reported explosion and subsequent fire at a home on the city’s North Shore this evening (Apr. 8).

A plume of black smoke could be seen across the city just after 5:30 p.m and residents in the neighbourhood surrounding the Linden Avenue home reported hearing an explosion from blocks away.

KFR Assistant Chief of Operations Ryan Cail says crews could see heavy fire and smoke showing before they even got on scene.

WATCH:

“Once we had a couple of bodies here, there was a couple of explosions. It turns out there was some Oxy-Acetylene in the back shop that exploded.”

Cail says everyone made it out of the house safely and nobody was injured in the incident. Damage was contained to the back garage.

At this time, a cause has not been determined but fire investigators will be looking over the scene.
