Quilchena Creek area wildfire now being held by BC Wildfire Service

MERRITT, B.C. — The B.C. Wildfire Service says a wildfire in the Quilchena Creek area outside of Merritt is now classified as being held.
Kamloops Fire Centre information officer Nicole Bonnett says 20 crew members and a helicopter will be working on the blaze today, and the 839 hectare fire is not expected to grow further.
“Fire activity is quite minimal today so we’ve been able to take a few resources off and with what we’ve got out there right now the fire didn’t see any growth overnight,” notes Bonnett, “Things are looking really good and with the cooler conditions throughout the day the crews are going to make some really good progress out there.”
