RCMP say disturbed, potentially armed man resulted in Brocklehurst apartment evacuation Monday
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP say the evacuation of a Brocklehurst apartment building Monday (Apr. 5) was ordered due to a reportedly armed and barricaded man.
In a news release, Cst. Crystal Evelyn says police were called to the building at about 4:15 p.m. Witnesses said the building was near the intersection of Tranquille Road and Holt Street.
Responding officers tried to deescalate the situation, but soon called in Southeast District Emergency Response Team (ERT) members. The apartment building was evacuated as a precaution.
Evelyn says further deescalation attempts failed, so ERT members employed a “less lethal” option, bringing the standoff to an end.
