Driver in collision that killed TRU employee sentenced to probation, fined

KAMLOOPS — A man who pleaded guilty to being behind the wheel of a truck that killed a woman near Thompson Rivers University has received his sentence.
David Mathew Tucker pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention under the Motor Vehicle Act in the Nov. 15, 2019 collision that killed Lucy Phua.
Phua, 54 and an employee of TRU, was in a crosswalk when she was struck and killed by a pickup truck.
At the time, RCMP said the driver remained at the scene of the collision. They noted conditions were rainy and dark at the time of the incident.
