Spike belt brings stolen motorhome pursuit to an end near Merritt

MERRITT, B.C. — A pursuit involving a pair of stolen vehicles ended with a spike belt near Merritt.

According to Sgt. Joshua Roda of Merritt RCMP, the incident began earlier Thursday (Apr. 1) when RCMP in Logan Lake were told of a suspicious vehicle. It was eventually tracked down in the parking lot of the Logan Lake library with a man inside.

Officers tried to pull it over, but it sped away. Investigators later determined the vehicle to be stolen.

Mounties found the suspect and vehicle not long after at a home in the 8500-block of Highway 97C.

It’s believed the suspect broke into the home and stole a motorhome, once again fleeing on the highway toward Merritt.
