Mar 31, 2021 | 2:06 PM

KAMLOOPS — 4:05 p.m.: The Kamloops-Thompson School District says the lockdown at NorKam Secondary has now been lifted.

3:15 p.m.: The Kamloops-Thompson School District says the lockdown has been lifted for all North Shore and Brocklehurst schools except NorKam Secondary.

Schools will be dismissed under the supervision of the RCMP.

NorKam parents are still asked to stay away from the school until it is cleared.

3:00 p.m.: Kamloops RCMP have confirmed the heavy police presence and school lockdowns on the North Shore are related to a threat.

In an email, spokesperson Cst. Crystal Evelyn says police received a threat related to NorKam Secondary this afternoon (Mar. 31).

School administrators put all schools on the North Shore and in Brocklehurst on lockdown as a result.

Evelyn says the lockdowns will be cleared and students will be allowed to leave once it is determined that the situation is safe and until then, parents and the general public are asked to avoid the areas of the locked down schools.

2:35 p.m.: RCMP are asking parents to wait until the lockdowns are cleared before attending schools to pick up their children.

Cst. Crystal Evelyn says the lockdowns and heavy police presence around NorKam Secondary and Kamloops Christian School are part of an ongoing investigation.

“Until we hear further, we’re just asking — I know it’s a big ask from parents, being a parent myself — please, just be patient.”

Evelyn says she is not aware of any injuries, but the situation appears to be related to threats.
