Gavin Dew seeking leadership of BC Liberal Party
KAMLOOPS – Gavin Dew says his passion for the energy and ideas of young people makes him the ideal candidate to become the next leader of the BC Liberal party.
Dew announced his candidacy today (Mar. 31), saying he is ready to lead the renewal and modernization of the party. He says he’ll do that by putting people and families first. “We need to focus on moving forward with a committed leader who will invite and inspire new, younger, and diverse voters into our party, while also recognizing those who got us here.”
Born and raised in Vancouver, Dew describes himself as a longtime BC Liberal member. He is a graduate from U.B.C. and earned a master’s from Oxford with a thesis on corporate social responsibility. He says is the founder of the Forum for Millennial Leadership, a non-partisan organization that encourages and mentors young people in politics.
He has the support of former deputy BC Green Party leader Matt Toner and former BC Liberal MLA Ralph Sullivan. “Gavin offers a fresh take on BC Liberal priorities for the future. His generational perspective and understanding of urban issues address two key areas for growth in our party, and he has many sound, sensible, and actionable ideas,” says Sullivan.
