KAMLOOPS — Three people were arrested following a search in a North Shore neighbourhood Monday.

Kamloops RCMP and the Southeast District Critical Incident Program’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) arrived at a residence on the 900-block of 13th Street on Monday (March 29) evening and seized cash, drugs, stolen property, weapons, among others.

Neighbours confirmed to CFJC Today that the address in question is 990 13th Street.

“Sometimes, people ask, ‘Why the police presence?'” Cst. Crystal Evelyn said. “By the fact that weapons were present and seized during this search, investigations of this nature come with a higher level of risk. By utilizing the special skill set of the ERT members helps keep the situation safer for everyone involved.”

Two men and one woman were arrested and later released pending the outcome of the investigation. Evelyn said every investigation is different.

“The amount of time and steps required in part of that investigation in order to be able to obtain enough information to be able to recommend a charge can vary,” Evelyn said. “All we can do is the best we can do… making sure we take all the steps appropriate so that if charges are recommended, they can have the best chance of being successful.”
