Kamloops’ tree coupon program returns, available at local businesses

Mar 29, 2021 | 11:20 AM

KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops’ program to increase the community’s tree canopy is back.

Kamloops’ tree coupons have a value of $20 or $50 – depending on the price of the selected tree – and are available between April 1 and June 16.

The tree coupon program assists in increasing Kamloops’ tree canopy from 12 to 20 per cent. Urban trees provide social, health, environmental, and economic benefits. Including removing atmospheric carbon dioxide, absorbing air pollutants, reducing energy consumption and raising property values.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, coupons will be available at local businesses instead of city facilities. They’re available at:

  • Agri Supply
  • Art Knapp Plantland
  • Canadian Tire – Aberdeen
  • Canadian Tire – North Shore
  • Country Garden Greenhouses and Nursery
  • Home Depot
  • Lyons Garden and Landscape Centre
  • Purity Feed Co.

A total of 750 coupons will be available on a first-come, first-served basis to residents within Kamloops’ municipal boundaries, with a limit of one per household. Residents will need to supply proof of address in the form of a driver’s licence or a City of Kamloops utility or property tax statement.

Coupons will only be available at the time of purchase of an eligible tree and cannot be picked up at one store and used at another store, nor can coupons be picked up for use at a later date.
