COVID-19 CANCELLATION

Kamloops International Baseball Tournament cancelled again due to ongoing pandemic

KAMLOOPS — For the second year in a row, COVID-19 has forced the cancellation of the Kamloops International Baseball Tournament.

Kamloops International Baseball President Wayne Harper says in a release today (Mar. 29) that the light at the end of the pandemic tunnel won’t arrive quickly enough for B.C’s longest running baseball tournament.

This would have been the 47th year of the event.

“We looked at this decision from every possible angle, with hopes of giving Kamloops fans and our longtime sponsors something to look forward to,” states Harper. “But in the end, there was no way to plan ahead without knowing when restrictions on gatherings would be lifted, not to mention the travel restrictions that currently prevent U.S. teams from travelling to Canada to compete. It was the difficult decision, but under these circumstances, we believe it was the right decision and the responsible decision.”
