Westjet announces twice-weekly Kamloops-to-Edmonton direct flight

KAMLOOPS — There is positive news for Kamloops air travellers Friday (Mar. 26). Direct flights from Kamloops to Edmonton will return to Fulton Field as of June.

In a news release, Westjet says a twice-weekly return flight between Kamloops and Edmonton will take off on June 24.

The flights will be offered on Thursdays and Sundays.

Presently, travellers between Northern Alberta and Kamloops need to connect through Calgary.

The pandemic has been difficult on airlines travelling through Kamloops.

Earlier this month, Kamloops Airport manager Ed Ratuski told CFJC Today that passenger numbers dropped by 90 per cent since the beginning of the pandemic.

Air Canada announced a suspension of its Kamloops service in January.
