MERRITT, B.C. — The COVID-19 outbreak at a Merritt care home has been declared over.

According to Interior Health (IH), the outbreak at The Florentine was limited to two resident cases.

It was first declared with one case identified on Feb. 18. The second case was found four days later, but IH says two incubation days have now passed since the last onset of symptoms.

Earlier, IH Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Albert de Villiers stated the limited spread within The Florentine was partly a testament to the efficacy of vaccination efforts in the facility.
