KAMLOOPS — The Board of the Thompson Nicola Regional District voted 25-1 yesterday (Thursday) to approve a third-party audit of spending over the past five years.
The motion to have the independent, forensic report came after Kamloops This Week issued a report that showed more than $517,000 was expensed by former CAO Sukh Gill, most of it outside regular work hours.
Sun Peaks Mayor Al Raine,Chair of the TNRD Audit Committee, said an independent review may reveal things they aren’t aware of, or things that could have been done better.
The survey will cost up to $75,000. Cache Creek Mayor Santo Talarico was the only director to vote against the motion.
