Gemstone Care Centre COVID-19 outbreak declared over

KAMLOOPS — The last COVID-19 facility outbreak in Kamloops has come to an end.

In a news release, Interior Health says an outbreak at Gemstone Care Centre in Brocklehurst has been declared over.

The outbreak was declared on January 13, growing to 32 patients – 24 residents and eight staff members. Two people died of COVID-19 during the outbreak.

Two incubation periods, measuring two weeks each, have passed since the onset of symptoms for the last COVID-19 patient at the long-term care facility.
