Westsyde Care Residences COVID-19 outbreak comes to an end

KAMLOOPS — A second COVID-19 facility outbreak in Kamloops has been declared over Thursday (Mar. 11).

According to Interior Health, the outbreak declared Feb. 1 at Westsyde Care Residences is no longer active.

The outbreak grew to 13 staff members and 17 residents, and two people died of the virus before it was declared over.

The facility is privately-operated and includes 21 beds meant for those who have suffered brain or spinal cord injuries. Several of the beds are funded publicly.
