100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — 100 Mile House RCMP said they made progress to solve a rash of mail thefts in the area.

On Monday (Mar. 8), officers were tipped off by an employee of a government agency that there seemed to be stolen mail in their client’s apartment.

Mounties searched the apartment in the 400-block of Cedar Avenue and recovered a large amount of mail believed to have been stolen last week from the post office in 100 Mile House.

RCMP are now trying to track down the suspect, who they describe as a 28-year-old man known to police.

Elsewhere, RCMP said a yard truck recently stolen from the West Fraser Mill in 100 Mile House was recovered in another jurisdiction.

Inside the truck were a few pieces of mail stolen from 108 Mile Ranch.

This is not the end of the investigation, and RCMP said they continue to work with Canada Post to recover stolen mail and identify suspects.

Anyone with further information on the stolen mail incidents can call 100 Mile House RCMP at (250) 395-2456 and quote file 2021-822, or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
