KAMLOOPS — Local RCMP officers went out to no fewer than 335 calls last weekend. Here are some of the more notable calls.

The report of a man being “stabbed in the heart” turned out to be vastly overstated.

Officers rushed to a motel room in the 500-block of Columbia St. West during the noon hour on Sunday (Mar. 7).

Rather than being stabbed in the heart, the victim had some non-life-threatening cuts to his body. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

A track of the area did not turn up any suspects. The only description given to officers was of a white man wearing black clothing. RCMP say the victim was not helpful.

Early Sunday morning, thieves smashed and grabbed at a pair of locations.

The first took place at an auto shop on the Yellowhead Highway, at about 2:48 a.m.

A few hours later, a similar theft took place at a business in Aberdeen Mall with an exterior glass door.

The suspect was described as ‘possibly Caucasian’, wearing a red and black Honda hat, a black hat and black shoes, and driving a red Ford Explorer.

A routine impaired driving investigation on the North Shore spun into something more late Saturday night.

A member of the RCMP Central Interior Traffic Services had a vehicle pulled over around Willow and Poplar Streets when the passengers got out, began striking the cruiser’s windows and swearing at the officer.

Backup officers arrived and began arresting the passengers, which is when the driver launched his own attack, kicking the cruiser’s windows and spitting at officers.

In total, three people were arrested and later released. One of them has a court date to respond to potential charges.
