B.C. records 634 new COVID-19 cases, 33 in Interior Health

VICTORIA — B.C. has found another 634 new cases of COVID-19 Friday (Mar. 5), with 33 in Interior Health.

The totals are included in an update prepared by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry.

There have now been 83,107 cases of COVID-19 in B.C. since the pandemic arrived, spread out as follows:

19,306 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 149)
48,776 — Fraser Health (up by 365)
2,515 — Island Health (up by 26)
7,555 — Interior Health (up by 33)
4,799 — Northern Health (up by 60)
156 — Reside outside of Canada (up by 1)

The province recorded four more cases of variants of concern, for a total of 250, twelve of which remain active.

Henry says active cases of COVID-19 in B.C. are at 4,901 Friday, up by 158 from Thursday. There are 255 people in hospital, including 66 in intensive care.

There are 365 active cases of COVID-19 in Interior Health, down one from Thursday, with 16 people in hospital and seven in critical care.

Four more people have died of the virus, raising the province’s death toll to 1,380. Two of the deaths took place in Interior Health, lifting the regional death toll to 107.

There are 8,861 people under active public health monitoring due to direct exposure to COVID-19.

A total of 76,752 people are now considered fully recovered from the virus, or 92 per cent of all recorded cases.

Henry says 311,208 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to this point, including 86,865 second doses.
