“A Tribute to Seeds” about to get Kamloops gardeners ready for growing season
KAMLOOPS — Gardeners of the city take note! This Saturday and next, the organizers of Seedy Saturday are hosting “A Tribute to Seeds” at the Purity Feed Garden Centre, alongside the Winter Farmers Market.
Last year’s edition of Seedy Saturday was cancelled just two days before the event was scheduled, an early casualty of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. Daniela Basille, the event organizer and farmer at SSOL Gardens, says they’re able to hold A Tribute to Seeds alongside the Farmer’s Market because food and food production is considered essential.
“Everyone obviously wants to keep it as safe as we can for everyone, but life has to go on,” Basille says. “People are starting to think about gardening. They’re starting to think ‘Okay, I’ve got to get going here! And, I think COVID scared a lot of people last year, with the food missing in the stores and people started gardening.”
