The Canadian Armed Forces has confirmed a CC-130H Hercules aircraft was in the area today as crews conducted mountain flying training. The Royal Canadian Air Forces most commonly uses the highly noticeable Hercules in transport and search and rescue applications.

“This training is essential to enable crews to fly and search in challenging three dimensional environments,” said Senior Public Affairs Officer, 1 Canadian Air Division Maj. Trevor Reid in an email to CFJC Today.

This aircraft, from 426 Transport Training Squadron, is typically based at 8 Wing Trenton, Ontario. Reid says this week, the aircraft and crew will be based at 19 Wing Comox until they fly back to Ontario on Friday.
