Interior Health issues drug alert after 100 Mile House sees jump in overdose deaths
100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — In a rare move, Interior Health (IH) has issued an overdose alert for a smaller, outlying community. In a bulletin published late Friday (Feb. 26), IH says there has been an alarming increase in fatal overdoses in 100 Mile House.
The bulletin notes some of the deaths may be linked to a white powder. It’s unknown whether the powder is being sold as a stimulant or an opioid.
In addition, IH says the presence of benzodiazepine and fentanyl is still being detected in the Interior drug supply.
The dangerous drugs come in multiple colours and textures.
