100 Mile House-area residents frustrated by rash of mailbox break-ins

100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — Residents of 100 Mile House and the surrounding area are dealing with an epidemic of mail theft.

According to 100 Mile RCMP, incidents have increased in the service area over the past week. Canada Post boxes have been broken into throughout an area spanning from Lac La Hache to Bridge Lake.

RCMP say nearly 90 mailboxes were entered recently at 108 Mile Ranch – and an entire 20-box unit was removed in the Lac La Hache area. It was recovered later near Forest Grove.

Sometimes, the thief only goes into the larger parcel boxes.

Mounties say they have little surveillance video to use and forensic evidence is difficult to glean from the boxes, as they typically have many sets of fingerprints due to the number of people accessing them lawfully.
