COVID-19 outbreak at Royal Inland Hospital declared over

KAMLOOPS — An outbreak of COVID-19 at Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) in Kamloops has been declared over.

In a news release Monday (Feb. 22), Interior Health (IH) says the outbreak, which was first declared on January 22, was contained to two units and 105 cases – 36 patients and 69 staff.

Four people died after contracting COVID-19 in the outbreak, an increase of one from last reports late last week.

Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Albert de Villiers thanked staff and leaders at RIH for their efforts to contain the situation.
