KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops science educator’s legacy is being remembered once more through a charity campaign.

The BIG Little Science Centre (BLSC) announced the Gordon R. Gore Legacy Fund GoFundMe Charity campaign in support of the non-profit community organization.

“It was Gordon’s wish that in lieu of flowers in his memory that persons could donate to the [BLSC],” BLSC Executive Director Gord Stewart said. “Persons can now donate to the BLSC through this campaign or directly through the [centre].”

Gore passed away in November, 2020. He taught science courses in Vancouver, Richmond, Mission and Kamloops, before he founded and led the BLSC for two decades.

BLSC is a registered charity that aims to ignite a passion for science in children through hands-on exploration and experimentation in an entertaining and stimulating environment.

BLSC moved to a space in downtown Kamloops and is raising funds to cover the costs of renovations and upgrades. The group was moved out of Happyvale Elementary School due to classroom space being needed after Parkcrest Elementary School was destroyed by a fire.

Any interested donors can contribute to the BLSC online.
