COVID-19 outbreak at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake over
WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — Interior Health (IH) has deemed a COVID-19 outbreak at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake officially over.
The outbreak was declared on January 13. In just a few days, it grew to 14 cases — 12 staff and two patients.
After 28 days, or two incubation periods, with no new cases, IH officials were confident in declaring the outbreak finished.
“This outbreak was managed very well by hospital leaders and staff, as well as the communicable disease specialists at Interior Health,” said IH Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Albert De Villiers in an IH release issued Wednesday (Feb. 17).
